Club Run 20/01/08

Dave's run to Cracoe became a victim of the day's damp weather. Despite starting with seven riders from Rawdon Christine, Rob & Clive turned back at Bolton Abbey leaving Dave, John, Ian & Matt to carry on to Cracoe. Dave, the run's leader(!) dissapeared on the road to Burnsall after dropping off the back of the group. John turned 'round and cut short at Burnsall (Both John and Dave had been out the previous day) leaving Ian and Matt to enjoy a loop up to Kilnsey and Coniston before returning on the east side of Wharfedale.

Ian demonstrates some pretty windy conditions.

John's run to Hebden Bridge took an epic route through Ilkley, Addingham Moorside then dropping down through Steeton before a treck over Oxenhope to drop down into Hebden Bridge. John managed to find some lesser used roads to enhance what is a bit of a classic run. The highlight of the morning was Sid Barras' spectating as the route went straight past his front garden. The return journey was again over Oxenhope but without a trip over Addingham Moorside!

Club Run 06/01/08

The first run of the year to Knaresborough was lead by Jane with a fantastic route through Askwith, Blubberhouses, Markington and Burton Leonard to drop south to Knaresborough. The return route was through Folifoot and Kirby Overblow and best of all the weather allowed some great views up Nidderdale.

Club ride out Dinner & Downhill Competition! 16/12/07

Cavendish Pavillions was once again the location for the Christmas ride out dinner. The freewheeling competition was hotly contested despite only five people on the run. The descent from Embsay moor down to Barden provided it's usual white knuckle ride with Matt Horwood taking a narrow victory from Andy Noble and Cliff Beldon a career best in third. Mick looked like he was the favorite by using a bike with no mudgiards and two full bottles. Ian apparently managed to spot Bill Oddie during his run.

The dinner itself was was attended by around 30 members and a big thank you must go to Jane for organising everything. After leaving Cavendish Pavillions it was time to ride back down Wharfedale to the Black Bull in Otley.

Club ride out Dinner & Downhill Competition! 17/12/06

Christmas is really here when it's time for the ride out dinner and downhill competition. This year's dinner was again at Cavendish Pavillions with around 30 members attending including 12 who rode out on the club run to take part in the hotly contested freewheeling competition. John Oldridge took a magnificent win by quite a margin and no-one managed to find themselves either in the wall or on the ground despite the damp road. Again, a big thank you must go to Jane for not only organising the dinner itself but also prizes for the freewheeling competition.

After a steady ride back from Cavendish Pavillions some club members managed to find their way into the Black Bull in the square in Otley to spend some time socialising. A good time was had by all, even Dave Goodall who managed to 'forget' the combination to his bike lock upon leaving. Ten minutes shivering and fumbling managed to do the trick and Dave, John and Matt all had their bikes released. Only for Matt to discover he had a puncture.

12 Members enjoyed a pleasant winter's ride to contest the freewheeling competion. Cliff Beldon takes the psyching out seriously with some stretching...

Cliff continues his stretching but it was John Oldridge, in the foreground - looking fast in the red gillet , who took home first prize.

Club Dinner 24/11/06

Corks wine bar in Otley was the venue for the annual dinner. The general concensus was that this was an excellent choice with fine food and a function room all to ourselves. A big thank you to Jane for organising a splendid evening with first class turnout of club members and of course the all entertaining and traditional raffle.

It looks as if the beer was so good rob couldn't quite focus his camera...

Christine Gascoigne won the Ted Bell trophy for clubperson of the year...

...and Matt Horwood collected some pots for his time trial performances.

A special mention was also made of Chris who had put in some impressive times in only his first season of racing. Hopefully a sign of things to come for 2007.

Same time, same place next year?...
