Race 8 - Aldborough
Josh Edmondson wins on Aldborough
On a stormy night on Aldborough, the 8th and final race of the series took place. The race was shortened to 3 laps to allow more time for the Prize presentation afterwards. 4 groups started, the gap a meagre 4 minutes, with the scratch group at full strength. The 1st group just made the prime on the 1st lap with James Wagner taking the honours, with Hamish Robbertshaw 2nd, just getting the better of Luke Simpson in 3rd. The race all came together by Marton with Giles Pidcock, Steve Whitehurst, Josh Edmondson and Scott Thwaites going clear on a break, but then Scott and Josh made another break on their own. By lap 2 it was clear that these two were not going to be caught, which prompted riders to try their luck, with Mark Thwaites and Jack Kirk attacking.
Dirtwheels and Chevin worked hard in the bunch to try to bring them back, but to no avail. Dirtwheels tried a break themselves, with riders Neil Hendry and Adrian Rudd, but they were pulled back by the pelaton. Then Tim Howcroft tried in the closing miles, to have a go on his own, but was caught with the finish in sight. In the end, Josh Edmondson and Scott Thwaites rolled over the line together 1st and 2nd. A fine jesture to Josh by Scott who with his 2nd place had just won the overall. The rest of the break came in in splinters. Mark Thwaites 3rd, Jack Kirk 4th and Giles Pidcock 5th, leaving the rest to sprint it out for 6th.

Race 7 - Bishopwood
First Win for Otley's Ged Millward
The first group on the road looked determined and all working well to stay clear. On lap 2 the prime was won by Junior James Wagner, with Hamish Robertshaw 2nd and juvenile Lewis Barry 3rd. All these three were pulling the group along well. Also riders to note were Dave Cook, Luke Simpson and Carol Barry all contributing. By lap 3, the larger Group 2 got across to bridge the gap, then Group 3 a few miles later. This left the scratch group to bridge the final gap. They were making good progress until tactics played a big part, leaving the Scratch group slowing and starting to lose time, with the race going away from them. Only a few of the scratch group tried to make progress, Ewan Sewell, Giles Dumont, Graeme Collin, James Wagstaff, John Oldridge and Oliver Webster. The majority of the rest creating blocking tactics. In the end it was a sprint between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd groups, with Demon Sprinter Ged Millward, Otley cc taking the first place. Otley had 3 riders in the top ten, supervet Bernard Garnett 6th and the ever improving Tim Howcroft in 4th.
Some other notable rides on the night came from Obri-Coachings Alasdair Bruce and Mike Cross, and Leeds Mercury rider Constantin Manole.
The race lead has changed hands 3 times, Scott Thwaites, Giles Pidcock and Marc Help taking it back with his 5th place. This is all set up for the last race on Aldborough when any one of these three could win the overall.

Mike Salkeld wins for Team Chevin. Bang&Olufsen
...and the team on it's way to claiming the Team Shield
Milby was the circuit, 3 1/2 laps-32 miles, on a calm, showery night. Mike Salkeld had his 1st TLI win in a sprint finish. The win must also seal the Team Shield for Team Chevin.Bang/Olufsen, with Steve Whitehurst finishing 3rd and Trevor Larcombe 9th.
Four groups started with a 5 minute gap between the 1st and 4th groups, with a prime on offer each lap. It made for some fast racing. The 1st lap prime was won by junior James Wagner, Luke Simpson, juv, in 2nd and Tim Jackson 3rd. By lap 2, groups 1,2 and 3 had all come together with Marc Help taking the prime, Mike Salkeld 2nd and Airedales Dave Goodall 3rd. From then on it was evident that Team Chevin were massing at the front with Simon Harradine, Jonathan Hobson, Steve Whitehurst and Lee Owen-Stanford working hard to keep things moving. Dirtwheels looked good on the night with 5 riders all contributing to the chase. The 3rd lap prime went to Dirtwheels Adrian Rudd, with Mike Salkeld in 2nd again and Trevor Larcombe in 3rd. The scratch group worked hard but had a little too much to do, with conditions good, by the finish they were 15 seconds adrift, but they did well to pull back nearly 2 minutes on the last lap.
Top finishers on the night were 2nd placed Seb Horner, Moonglu, Visiting rider Steve Johnson, Birkenhead cc 4th, Adrian Rudd Dirtwheels, won a prime and finished 6th, Stuart Spencer picked up 10th for Moonglu, and in only his 2nd ride in this series, Tom Broadbent, Energy Cycles picked up 5th place. The 1st lady back was Iona Sewell, Squadra Donne and 1st juvenile, Luke Simpson, Leeds St. Christopher.

Race 5 - Aldborough
Scott Thwaites wins and Giles Pidcock takes the Yellow Jersey
It was a case of "as you were" when the big boys took charge on Aldborough. After being starved of success, Scott Thwaites won, with brother Mark in 2nd. The race came together early on lap 2. Then on lap 4 a 6 man break went clear. Josh Edmondson finished in 3rd in his 2nd race of this series. Dan Smith a visiting rider from the North East finished in 4th. Callum Sewell 5th, keeping Team Chevin up for the team award. Giles Pidcock won the prime on lap 2 but must have regretted going after it, when he was dropped off the break and went backwards to the bunch. In the sprint for the line, Ged Millward got by Giles to take 6th. That was some effort by Ged.
Giles Pidcock is back in yellow by taking the prime and 7th place, with 3 races to go. Team Chevin. Bang/Olufsen are in pole with a big lead in the team award. Crosstrax made a bit of ground but have a lot to do to retain the shield. The 1st woman was Carol Barry, her 3rd to Iona Sewell's 2.

Race 3 Bishopwood
Team Chevin. Bang/ Olufsen need “Help” on Bishopwood
It was Team Chevin's night on Bishopwood, and well deserved, which saw 3 of their riders in the Top Ten. With a win for Marc Help (Team Chevin. Bang/Olufsen), his first ever win in the 4 years the series has been run, he also had a 3rd and 2nd in the two primes on offer, which shot him to the top of the overall leader board.
He obviously worked hard all night. An early break on the road saw Josh Arnold ( University of York )and Tim Jackson ( Clifton cc ) go clear for three and a half laps of the six lap circuit, their lead going over 2 minutes. But it was never going to last, with Yorkshire Terrier, Marc Help and team mates Chris Hope and Mike Gill chasing , with the support of group one, who all worked hard.
Juvenile, Lewis Barry ( Sportcity Velo )and his Mum, Carol Barry (GS Surosa ) were present in this group, with over 60 vet Malcolm Robinson, all well organised, going through and off, with Arnold and Jackson surviving to the prime, and taking the points with Marc Help out sprinting the rest to take 3rd. Prime 2 went to Dave Goodall ( Airedale Olympic ) with Marc Help 2nd and Martin Tallontire ( Otley cc ) 3rd.
By lap 5 with one to go, it looked in the bag for group one, as the peleton was not making enough progress to bring it together. The sprint for the line started a long way out and Marc Help going clear to win with Tim Howcroft ( Otley cc ) 2nd, Dave Goodall ( Airedale) 3rd. With Marc Help’s team mates Mike Gill 6th and the improving Chris Hope in 8th. Juvenile, Lewis Barry looks to have the pedigree of his Mum and Dad, finishing in 9th. At only 14 years old, this makes him the top Juvenile in the series after 3 races.
