Airedale Olympic rider's first BC race
A cold but bright and clear day saw Croft Circuit host British Cycling North East's season opening race day, comprising Youth, Regional B and National B level races. New 4th Cat rider Hamish Robertshaw represented Airedale Olympic in the Regional B race which covered 20 laps of the flat 2.1 mile circuit. The pace of the race ebbed and flowed according to the wind direction and some early season cat and mouse tactics. Despite a couple of attempted breakaways and an early crash at the technical final chicane the race passed with the group intact and was decided by a bunch sprint won by blackhawkbikes.com rider Justin Robinson. Airedale Olympic's Hamish Robertshaw finished in the group and commented after the race:
"That was a great race. I was pleased to stick the pace and the distance despite some cramp and was disappointed to be boxed out in the last corner to prevent contesting the sprint for a place. I'm now very much up for next week's 4th Cat only race at Hetton!"
